Danaë was the daughter of a king, and a prophecy foretold that her son would kill him. Her father thus had her locked in a chamber, but she was impregnated by Zeus/Jupiter, in the form of golden rain. She gave birth to Perseus, who later went on to kill his grandfather (though by accident).
