François Boucher, The Rape of Europa, c. 1732-1734, oil on canvas, 230.8 x 273.5 cm, The Wallace Collection, London

Europa was a beautiful young girl playing on a beach, when Zeus/Jupiter landed in the form of a bull.  She pet the animal and decorated its horns with flowers and eventually sat upon its back.  At that moment he flew away, to Crete, where she gave birth the three sons (including Minos, the king of Crete who kept the Minotaur).
