Georges de La Tour, Joseph the Carpenter, c. 1645, oil on canvas, 130 x 100 cm, Museé du Louvre, Paris

Joseph was the husband of the Virgin Mary and the adoptive father of Jesus Christ.  He was a carpenter, and was selected from a group of Mary's suitors when he said a prayer and his staff began to flower.

While not depicted here, a flowering staff is a common attribute of Joseph.
